PROPER PREPARATION OF RECYCLABLES

 

All cans, mixed glass and plastic can be mixed.

All materials must be clean and dry to be accepted as recycling product.

 

Paper – All newspaper including the inserts that come with the papers.  Place in grocery bag and place in bottom of recycling bin.  Keep clean and dry.

Unacceptable Items – Coffee filters, tea bags, paper towels, wrapping paper, tissue paper and any bathroom waste product.

 

Cans – All aluminum and tin cans, including the lids.  Please rinse and remove labels.

Unacceptable Items – Tin foil, razors, needles, food or chemically tainted containers (i.e. paint cans, gas containers, aerosol spray cans).

 

Glass – Unbroken food and beverage glass only. Lids should be removed and containers rinsed.  Labels may be left on.

Unacceptable Items – Broken glass, light bulbs, windows, dishes, drinking glasses and lids.

 

Plastic – Empty plastic bottles labeled type 1 & 2 with necks.  No caps.  Rinse thoroughly.  Oil containers must drain fro 24 hours prior to pick up.  Labels can be left on.

Unacceptable Items – Items labeled 1 or 2 without necks, plastic jars, medicine containers, plastic bags, pails, plastic wrap and other plastic tubs, silverware and toys.  Foam items such as cups, packing peanuts and packaging material.  Contaminated containers and/or hazardous waste.
